We are big believers in minimising our impact on the planet, but we are also aware that true sustainability and environmental friendliness can be a difficult thing to achieve – especially when you’re on holiday.
The good news is – we’ve done all the hard work, so you can relax, enjoy your time away and leave let us worry about it for you! Below are just some of the ways we’re making Greyhound Cottage as sustainable and environmentally friendly as possible:
Recycling – The Easy Way
Just throw all your rubbish in the bin – it’s that easy! We have a specialist waste provider who take away all of your rubbish and sort it for you. No need to remember which bin the plastic goes it, which box the carboard goes in or where to put the glass! Throw it all in the bin and it will be sorted and recycled without you needing to give it a second thought. It’s as simple as that!
Renewable Energy – Nailed It!
We use a renewable energy supplier at the cottage. The electricity that brews your coffee, washes your dishes and powers your shower comes from renewable sources and part of the money we spend on paying the energy bills goes towards developing renewable energy sources to help reduce everyone’s carbon footprint
Ultra-Efficient Heating & Appliances
The washing machine, dryer, fridge freezer, dish washer and most other appliances are all highly energy efficient. We specifically purchased and installed appliances which provide top tier performance without causing damage to the environment.
Our heating system at the cottage is a brand new, state-of-the-art storage heating system. When installing new heating, we chose the most efficient heating solution we could find that kicks out the most heat possible while not wasting energy. We also made use of a highly accredited consultancy service to ensure that the placement and energy dispersal of of the heating system keeps you warm without hurting the planet.
The inclusion of an ultra-efficient dish washer also means that the plates get cleaned with the minimum of waste water while also saving you time and effort, so you can spend your precious holiday time enjoying yourself and not worrying about who’s turn it is to do the dishes!
Eco-Friendly Cleaning Products
Where practicality and safety allows, we make use of eco-friendly cleaning products throughout the cottage. Our first and foremost priority will always be the cleanliness of the property – ensuring your health, safety and comfort – however, where possible, we have selected cleaning products that leave the cottage spotlessly clean while impacting the environment as little as possible.
