This is Pearl and Ruby. Greyhound Cottage is their home from home.
Being frequent visitors to the Lake District ourselves, we found it surprisingly difficult to find truly dog welcoming accommodation. We found so many other properties were more ‘dog tolerant’ than actually friendly – and that’s where Greyhound Cottage started.
We wanted somewhere that our four-legged family members could enjoy and relax in, as much as we could. We want the same experience for you and your pets too, so we provide:
- Blankets so your companions can cuddle up on the sofa with you
- Food/water bowls to lighten the load when travelling
- Hooks for leads (the small things matter!)
- Information on where the best local spots are for you and your pets
Although we don’t have a garden, we do have a choice of 3 parks within as little as a hundred yards (less than a 1 minute walk) for them to get out and stretch their legs. The cottage is also on a small side road making walkies on a lead stress-free.
We are just round the corner from loads of dog friendly cafes and restaurants such as Brew Brothers, The Barrel House, Farrers, Burgundy’s Wine Bar, Farmhouse Kitchen and Yard 46 – meaning you can all go out to eat together without having to load up the car and drive anywhere.
The Lake District is a walkers’ and dog lovers’ paradise with thousands of trails to suit all abilities and an abundance of shops, cafes, restaurants and other attractions to welcome you and your furry friends.
We don’t believe in asking a fee for bringing your pets – they’re some of our best behaved guests! Our only ask is that you bring their own bedding and keep them off the beds for the comfort of our other guests who aren’t quite as mad about dogs as we are.
